General

This Privacy Notice applies to the personal data processed in the context of HPE's recognition program Star Point which enables HPE team members and people leaders to provide colleagues, peers and teams recognition to each other for special events, celebrations or behaviours through e-cards, points, and cash awards.

Participating in the Star Point recognition program does not influence team member performance or other short-term incentive awards.  None of the features or capabilities of the Star Point recognition platform are used to determine job merit, or for any purpose other than gamification (friendly motivation), team member event celebration, and recognizing team members when they exhibit HPE’s values and beliefs.

The Type of Personal Data Processed

Star Point is the recognition platform provided by BI WORLDWIDE (BIW), a contracted supplier to HPE. HPE provides BIW minimum personal data necessary to set up accounts within Star Point with personal and demographic data from HPE Workday team member directory,  such as name, email address, title, business unit, business group, region, country, service anniversary date, job level and employee status.

How We Use Personal Data

The above mentioned personal data fields are used to construct the hierarchy within the platform and enable people leaders and team members to see their respective direct reports and teams they are part of. The aim is to enable participants to recognize each other not only for specific behaviors, but also for special occasions like birthdays, life events, work anniversaries, etc. By default each participant’s recognition activity is visible to other participants, however you can chose to make your own activity private, by accessing the Preferences section within the platform.

We use personal data available from accounts in Workday for the creation and maintenance of Star Point user accounts.

We may use a participant’s personal data to send them Star Point notifications via email and/or mobile notification as permitted by the participant’s user profile settings.

We do not set up or administer Star Point user profiles. Each Star Point participant can adjust their own user profile settings from the User menu.

The number of shares, impressions, clicks and other reactions (e.g. Liked, Retweets, Re-shared, etc.) of participants is not collected nor used in reporting dashboards for Star Point program. The number of connections/followers you choose to share content with is not stored.

Data is fed from Star Point into HPE MyHPERewards and Workday. This includes both aggregated counts of e-cards, points, and cash awards, as well as comments written about you.  Within Workday, you can use your recognitions in addition to your feedback to guide conversations with your people leader. Within HPE MyHPERewards, you can see the number of points and cash that have been awarded to you.

All HPE team members are eligible for and receive Star Point accounts at the time the platform is set up. Team members can choose to opt out of participation in the Star Point platform at any time by raising a request to the hpeadminsupport@biworldwide.com.

Features and Links to Other Websites

The Star Point recognition platform is provided by BIW, who acts as a Data Processor for HPE, but is also a separate Data Controller for data that may be collected when a Star Point participant clicks through to the Experiences Marketplace or Merchandise Marketplace and subsequently places an order.

When a participant places an order in Experiences Marketplace or Merchandise Marketplace (collectively BIW’s Order Management system), some personal data related to that participant and/or any other person that participant may choose to receive the item(s) ordered will be requested and controlled separately by BIW. Such personal data will include the minimum required to process the order (plus any additional personal data the participant chooses to provide when placing the order) and may include the following types: name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and (where required for travel-related orders) passport information, driver’s license.

Where to Obtain Additional Information
